Partners in Education
The Youth Fair is a longtime partner with Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Generations of students have grown up with the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair. They may recall pulling on the hands of parents, aunts, uncles and friends as they made their way through the Fair's long halls, past the aisles of pictures, robots, short stories, rabbits and more to reach their own exhibit. Or was it the time they went on a field trip and saw where the milk they drank came from?
It's not difficult to imagine that such memories are abundant in Miami-Dade County. After all, every year more than 40,000 Miami-Dade County Public Schools students and 2,000 teachers visit The Youth Fair on educational field trips. We provide free admission for the children, teachers and chaperones to have the fairgrounds to themselves before we open to the general public. Annually, we give nearly $6 million in complimentary admission tickets to students and underprivileged children and their families.
More than 27,000 students exhibit their achievements at the only venue where their academic, artistic, scientific and agricultural works can be seen and enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people.
The Youth Fair nurtures educational possibilities beyond high school by offering a scholarship program that helps students afford the cost to attend college. Graduating seniors within the school district are offered the opportunity to apply for a college scholarship provided by The Youth Fair.
In addition, the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exposition supports Miami-Dade County Public Schools as the primary sponsor of the Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics essay contest. When the prestigious competition was launched in 2014 for high school juniors and seniors, The Youth Fair presented the winners with $7,000 in combined prize money.
The Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exhibition looks forward to offering many more opportunities and enjoyment to students and their families in years to come.
